About Marvin Insurance
This agency first opened its doors for business in May of 1940 by Mr. Smith. He ran his business out of his home located at 506 Fourth Street in Yreka with the dining room as his office and the table as his filing cabinet. Mr. Smith's son Russ built a home next to this office. In 1951 Russ enlarged his home and they moved the agency there. In 1955 Mr. Smith died and his granddaughter moved in the house at 506 Fourth Street. In 1962 my father purchased the agency from Russ. In 1970 my father purchased the house Mr. Smith's granddaughter owned. After a little remodeling we moved the agency back to where it originally started, at 506 Fourth Street. In 1980 I went to work for my father, and in 1984 my father and I formed a partnership. In 1987 I purchased my fathers half of the partnership. I have one other producer who has been with me since November 1986.
In January of 1989 another local agent and I formed a corporation. We both kept our own offices. In November, 1996, we formed another corporation with five other agencies.
